The Network Games On
Developments Around The Scene
It is time again for a round-up of reports from the network of Clubhouses.
They Just Confessed It Openly
Mythic Mountain did an article reacting to the revelation by Mike Mearls about how bad most people are about the game because they never played it at all.
The #BROSR has maintained since the beginning that the rules do matter, that they do work, and that therefore they are to be obeyed and followed as-written. What we see here is not rejection due to reading and disliking, but a failure to even attempt to learn the rules at all.1 This is no different than getting a model kit, throwing out the instructions, and then wondering why you can’t make the model that you bought.
The remedial education is going to be harder than we thought, but we are inevitable.
Clubhouse Actions
“The vile minions of a vile Wizard much forward, seeking to destroy to holdings of Law. The armies of Law march forward to meet them and ready themselves for a great siege. Meanwhile a brave band of heroes embark on a parlous quest.”
It is good to see more Clubhouses, and more players, picking up the habit of posting receipts. People will start seeing that the game works when used as instructed when they see people showing them that it can be done, and done easily. They have another play report here, and their recent monthly newsletter here.
Very interesting to see someone tackle a game based on the James Bond movies. Will keep an eye on this one.
Trollopulous’s two recent reports are here and here, where there’s been significant detours for the top-level heroes of late that kept them away from affairs in the epoynymous land and inflicted more than just lost time upon them. New evils stalk the land, and without opposition they threaten to take over.
The Frenly Clubhouse’s play reports are posted to Twitter. Follow along there.
The Far Future Clubhouse, focused around Classic Traveller, continue to develop their own campaign setting that they began working out via a series of Braunstein sessions. Their April report is below.
And I remind you that Jeffro is still out there.
This Week At The Tower
Wednesday is the Battle Report for the Elf City situation, and following on Friday is what Lavsac and his crew have been doing in the north end of the Elves’ core domain.
I cannot wait to share what has gone down with all of you. This will be interesting to all of you.
